Our aim:  to proclaim God’s glory as one body, displaying the life and love of Jesus

Matthew Round

Hello my name is Matthew Round.

This past summer (2010) I have had the privilege of going over to the States and working for (AIS) Ambassadors In Sport.
I was in their Summer Soccer Camp programme, which meant I was packed up and sent all over the USA to run and teach kids about Soccer, but ultimately about Jesus Christ, their Saviour!

I was over there for 5 weeks in total, and stayed in 5 different locations,

hitting 4 different States (Ohio, Oregon, California, Colorado).

The camps consisted of Assemblies, Soccer Skill Sessions, Bible Times and World Cups. Looking back at the experience, it is amazing to see how God worked and used me (and all the other coaches) to glorify him.
We were able to see kids from the age of 5 hear the Gospel and give their lives to the Lord.

I was blessed with a great team of coaches, from all different corners of the world. And together we used our passion of Soccer to glorify God and bless the young children of America.

One specific highlight of the tour was: after our Gospel assembly, the kids were asked,

"If you’re not already part of
God’s team, put your hand up
if you want to be?"

About 20 kids put their hands up and as coaches we were able to take them to one side and pray with them for Jesus to come into their lives. I’m now back up north in Leeds, starting my second year studying Sports Coaching.

Prayer Points
- To settle back into uni life - and be a shinning light for God

- Settle into my church, to get involved

- For wisdom throughout the year (especially as I am running the Christians in Sport group this year)

- To fully rely on God for everything

Text of the year (a command from Jesus)
