Baptist Churches are found in almost every country in the world. As part of the world wide Christian church, Baptists form one of the largest families of the faith. For Baptists the church is not so much a particular place or building, but rather a family of believers, commited to Christ, to one another and to the service of God in the world.
Baptist's believe in the 'priesthood of all believers' recognising that all believers are equal before God and that each one of us is equally called to serve God in the local church and in the wider world, so we do not have a hierarchy of bishops or priests exercising authority over their members.

Baptists also believe however that we each have different roles to fulfil and that some are called to lead local churches in their mission to the world as Pastors, Elders and Deacons.
Local Baptist churches are self governing and self supporting and yet have always believed in the importance of interdependance with other Baptist fellowships whom we seek to support and encourage by associating with each other at both a practical and spiritual level.
